A PRAYER REQUEST   September 14, 2012

As we humble ourselves in prayer to the Father of us all, we draw down the powers and blessings of heaven upon our nation.  Last week a federal court upheld a Texas law that prohibits abortion providers from receiving funds.  This week nine other states are pursuing similar laws.

A VICTORY FOR THE BILL OF RIGHTS.

On Wednesday, September 12th, Katherine Forrest, a courageous federal district court judge in New York, made permanent an order blocking enforcement of provisions of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).  Under the NDAA American citizens could be indefinitely detained by the military for suspected terrorist activity, jailed in a military prison without a trial or even a charge of wrongdoing.  Judge Forrest’s’ order permanently prevents the Obama Administration from enforcing these sections of the NDAA.

Please mention these items in your daily prayers:

1.  It is particularly appropriate to begin prayer with thanks, and we have much to be thankful for this week.  The NDAA decision by Judge Katherine Forrest reaffirms Constitutional rights.  We should give thanks for this decision and ask a blessing on Judge Forrest and the nine states pursuing bills de-funding abortion providers.  September 17th is Constitution Day and we should give thanks for the wisdom and inspiration of the Founding Fathers.

2.   Drought – The extreme and exceptional drought areas in our nation are somewhat smaller this week, but there are still many areas of concern.  Please make mention of these in your daily prayers, our growers need God’s help to produce our food.  There are no tropical storms reported threatening the United States, we may give thanks for this.  The hurricane caused much flooding and damage in the South, please remember those affected in you prayers.

3.   Wildfires – There are two large fires started this week, but five large fires have been contained.  However, there are still many fires, mostly in the Rockies and Northwest that need our prayer attention.  Please pray that these fires may be contained and then extinguished.

4.   We have less than two months until Election Day.  You may wish to pray that the Media will report the news and campaign truthfully, and that our voters may discern between truth and error.

5.   May our elected representatives fulfill their offices with truth and virtue.  May they resist the bribes and power that come to many office holders.  If they will not resist these things, may they be replaced with office holders who will.

Please remember the divine promise given in II Chronicles 7: 14.

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

As we examine out lives in an effort to bring them into line with God’s law, let our lives stand as an example for our fellow citizens.  May we remember that we rely on the blessings of heaven for all of our daily needs.

God Bless America,
