Pray for the Election of Honest and Wise Statesmen
We received this Prayer Request from a friend, Alan Turner, in Ogden, Utah. It seems to match our thoughts and needs for the election next week and we are incorporating it into our Prayer Request. Please use this weekend and every day for fervent prayer for our nation and people. If fasting is part of your religious observance, please fast as you pray with us for our nation.
Pray that the Spirit of the Lord will enlighten those who will vote.
May the honest candidates be blessed with inspiration, and the resources to enable them to go on to victory.
May those who have abused our governmental system and country with criminal and treasonous acts be brought to justice.
May we as a people be worthy of continued blessings and show that worthiness by bringing our acts into line with the commandments of our God.
May those in the armed services be blessed with Thy protection and return to us safely and rapidly.
May America regain that position of a shining city on a hill filled with righteousness and peace.
May we as a people serve the Father of us all with daily acts of service to His children.
Here is Alan Turner’s request: Request for the Lord’s Assistance
I am concerned about the coming election. I am concerned that power and authority is the main objective for [those seeking election]. This our Founding Fathers tried so diligently to avoid as they put this country together, and to see it crumble to a dictator would be a real shame.
We experienced a president/dictator while we served our mission in Zimbabwe, Africa, attempting to help the poor people who had nothing, and a leader who couldn’t have cared less. Kind of reminds me of what is going on now here. Some leaders tell people what they want to hear, in hopes of getting their support. I feel that this is what has happened…
I am concerned that if good people everywhere in this country don’t turn out and vote in vast numbers, right will not prevail, and we will go down a path to our destruction as a nation.
The Constitution has been trampled on, and our rights of free speech, and our other rights as a people, as guaranteed by this God-inspired document, are at risk.
I therefore feel that we must have the help and assistance of our Heavenly Father and Savior if we are to make it through this election with a satisfactory outcome. I will be fasting and praying this coming Sunday for divine assistance and for help with those who are still undecided to not be swayed by the news media and others who are saying “all is well in Zion”.
Would you please join me in my fast this Sunday in seeking divine assistance for good honest people, along with those who are undecided, to look seriously at this election and vote for a free nation?
